Yesterday I sent a finished manuscript to the publisher. It's a book I've been living with for a long while, the sort of thing made out of pieces of a shipwreck. I found myself rather untethered the closer I got to sending it, and today I'm feeling the quiet spacious afterwards.
What is it? Well, every now and then someone will ask me, what do I mean, precisely, when I talk about messianism? It's not a word going around much these days and I talk about it a lot. This book is a series of sketches on this. But I'll say no more for now, since I'm sure it'll be a while coming.
Here's a beautiful conversation I had with Duncan Jones of Outsideleft a few weeks ago, on music, vulnerability, predicting the present, and various threads of the apocalyptic imagination.
We're almost halfway through the course on Paul's letter to the Romans. It's been brilliant and enlarging for me so far. The course is open to all paid substack subscribers. All the notes and previous sessions are there for anyone who'd like to join along the road, feel free to dive in.
Thanks to all who’ve been reading No Debts, No Masters. Next is No Law and No Caesars.
The sun is streaming in. I'm grateful for you all.
Grace and Peace
