In keeping with the advent season, December’s Koine Greek chant is Luke 1.52, a phrase from Mary’s messianic song during pregnancy:
“He has cast down the Powers from their thrones, and raised up the Low.”
Transliteration:
Ka-atheilen dynastas — downcasting the powers
Apo thronon — from their thrones
Kai upsosen ta-peinous — and raising up the low
Greek:
καθεῖλεν δυνάστας
ἀπὸ θρόνων
καὶ ὕψωσεν ταπεινούς
To be sung as prayer, round and chant.
