Greetings all,

Here are details for the second Messianic Commons Moot.

The story Modernity told about itself was framed in the sacred/secular divide. It was understood as a materialist worldview that tolerated spiritual beliefs round the edges as private affairs. In this moot we’ll be exploring a contrary vision, in which Modernity produced more sacred abstractions and immaterial forms of life and power than any age before it. Meanwhile, matter reappears to us as sacred again.

Since the sacred/secular divide no longer works the way it once did, I’ll be exploring an alternative frame to help understand the present, between two Greek words for life: bios and zoe.

This is the second in a series of online gatherings for paid subscribers, based on various threads from my book The Messianic Commons. You don't need to have bought or read the book to take part.
